I'm not done yet with the Dollar Tree cutting boards. I recently saw they have a new size - 12"x16". Since these weren't available locally, I had to order them off their website. The thing is that when you order from the website, you have to buy in bulk. So, now I have a dozen of them.
I originally was going to just do a family recipe of my father's pancakes called "Down East Pancakes" on the small cutting board. They are my favorite. That plan changed when I saw the large boards.
My folks retired to their 40 acre farm in Manton, MI. Back in 1992, the Cadillac Evening News did a story on my dad. My brother has a copy of the original article and the picture they used. He took pictures of it for me. I uploaded those to Gemini and asked it to give me all the text. It was perfect. The article included recipes and a nice little Q&A with my folks. Some of the text jumped out at me.
So, I put the dimensions of the large cutting board in LB on a tool path. Then, I started playing around with the pic used in the article and the text I wanted to use. Since my mom was quoted in the article that the oatmeal pancakes were her and my dad's favorite, I decided that was the recipe I needed to put on the board.
I came up with three different designs and ran them past my friends and family. I didn't get a unanimous decision but I also liked the one most folks voted for.
